What is inside

A planning workbook—not another pile of retirement brochures.

Use the guide to organize the questions that connect your FRS benefit with the rest of your retirement household.

02

Prepare for DROP and separation

Organize the questions around DROP timing, the accumulated benefit, payout choices, and the transition from employment.

03

Map the first 90 days

Build a checklist for benefit elections, account consolidation, health coverage, cash reserves, and the first retirement-income decisions.

The FRS distinction matters

DROP is not a third FRS retirement plan.

FRS has two retirement plans: the Pension Plan and the Investment Plan. DROP is available only to eligible Pension Plan members.

The playbook keeps those paths separate so Florida teachers and school employees can ask better questions before making elections or moving retirement money.

Confirm official plan details first.

Use MyFRS program information and the Florida Division of Retirement to confirm eligibility, estimates, dates, forms, and plan rules.

Then coordinate those official benefits with household cash flow, investments, Social Security, Medicare, insurance, beneficiaries, and taxes.
